5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent value for a very versatile and feature packed remote camera.
These cameras are excellent! The price paid is minimal compared to the total amount of functionality.
They do track objects that trigger them, maybe not as smoothly as higher priced options (I don’t know, have not tried others).
For the mobility of relocating the camera by simply picking it up and finding a new location, it’s massively more practical than the full wired systems available. Until you know where you want those more expensive cameras to be permanently installed, these cameras are a great alternative! Also, great for keeping a watch on who’s passing by your place at window-level.

Wired cameras have to be mounted high enough to be safe from getting ripped down by trespassers, these see through windows during the day very well. Interior night vision is top notch, seeing outside through windows at night is more difficult.

With the sensitivity turned up, every time a tree branch blows it triggers the cameras. This leads to near constant triggering of alerts during the late Spring, Summer and early Fall.
And, lots of recordings every day. So, you need to use the App to designate areas to watch for motion, or it’ll drive you nuts and frustrate you. To the point that you may start to ignore the notices.

The App provides great control, and allows remote on/off, sensitivity setting changes, you can set to record noise triggers or remove that, set trigger zones, move the camera via the App, and other adjustments.
I have noticed that the App actually does offer more functions, and work a little more smoothly, through my phone than my very new tablet. No idea why, it should be the same App for both platforms, no?
But, of course watching the playback on the larger screen is so much better, so I do use both.

The service plan allows storage of recordings from up to 10 cameras for $10 per month. Much more cost effective than others I looked into.

    The cons:
Can’t see thru glass with the built-in lights, at night. Reflection off the glass blinds the camera.
That should have been obvious to me from the start, since these are designed for indoor use only. but I had naively hoped for better night vision performance.
So, if looking out a window, get a motion-activated light to trigger so you can see what’s going on out there. Just don’t set it up where it will shine in your bedroom and wake you up.

App functionality on phone is higher than on tablet, no idea why. You will want to have the App on at least a phone, if not both.

Sometimes, some cameras will trigger, others won’t, for the same event.
Deer moving around the house sometimes are ignored by one camera, recorded by another. Also happened that another outdoor camera from another manufacturer recorded a vehicle trespassing, these cameras didn’t. Had to adjust the sensor sensitivity, but I think the baseline software settings should be set to trigger sooner on vehicles.

Branches moving on the breeze cause constant notices, even with Person Detection Mode activated.
A more elaborate software system might offer better monitoring, but for the pro systems, this requires fully wired systems with dedicated main recording components/control systems . Much more expensive, and I can’t afford to open the walls throughout the property.

Overall, these are great! I have bought several models, both the fixed ones and the bigger moving ones. All look great when set to the highest recording resolution, seem to last a long time, and are a breeze to set up or switch from spot to spot.
I very much recommend this camera! I also hope the manufacturer can produce a 4K version.

5.0 out of 5 stars Honestly, it’s great.
I have really appreciated this camera for monitoring my rescue dog while I’m working on separation anxiety training. You can adjust the angle remotely and it has great night vision, especially for the price.

My dog hates it for some reason, though, and even though I put the cord high out of her reach, when I was finally gone for 15m, she jumped on top of things and leaped in the air to tear it down. She managed to get through the cord in several spots so it doesn’t work anymore. Womp womp.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice camera. Serves the purpose.
Very good quality camera. 4 star only because it lags sometimes and gets stuck in looking into one corner but it happens very rare. And you have to pay to have saved recordings from the camera. But other than that amazing. Night vision is perfect. You can talk through the camera, you can lover the sound from the camera is you need. You can choose if it picks up on motion or a sound. Great product. Worth the money!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Camera – LOVE IT
I love the camera the price was cheap, but the camera is high quality, it has motion, person and sound detection built into it it’s incredible. The camera can even follow a person based on motion detection (The motion following is ok though it doesent always follow. That feature needs a little work). The camera sends you push notifications when it detects something it can also store anything it detects to the cloud or sd card. Which is a huge plus. Additionaly The camera has sound and you can use it as an intercom VIA the app if you would like to do so. I love the camera one of the best purchases I have made on Amazon. The camera is worth every penny. shipping was fast and setting up the camera and app was easy. LOVE IT!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy installation
This requires you to download an app and the camera requires wifi to operate but the installation was otherwise straightforward. Once installed, the app on your smartphone allows you to control the camera by rotating. I am very satisfied with the quality this provides for the price. I have yet to test this out during the night but the video quality during the day has been great. This product also comes with screws in case you wish to mount this. It will also be limited because you need to have this somewhat close to a power outlet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price but not ideal
We have four of these cameras that we use indoors for security and to watch our pets when we’re not at home. For the very affordable price I paid, i’m happy enough with these cameras, but there are some key features that I would gladly pay more for. First of all they don’t connect fully to Alexa. I can only turn them on and off from the Kasa app, and I would rather be able to control them by voice using Alexa. I have gotten around this by plugging them into smart plugs that do respond to Alexa, and then naming the plugs accordingly. This is also how I solve the problem of the cameras, lacking Geo fencing capabilities. I wanted the cameras to turn on automatically when I leave the house, and turn off when I get home, so I programmed Alexa to operate the plugs.

As far as tracking and panning go, the cameras work well as long as something passes in front of them that they can then follow. The problem comes in when they end up pointed in a corner, and all the action is happening on the opposite side of the room, where they can’t see it. Even though I have sound detection turned on, they never seem to pick up the hint to look in a different direction.

My biggest frustration is when I want to view history in the recordings. I have SD cards in every camera so they can record 24/7. The problem is that the camera history cannot be scrubbed to see a specific moment in time. It jumps by five minute intervals. Meaning if something occurred at 3:29, I have to go back to 3:25 and wait four minutes for the video to play through before I can get to the event. If I want to watch it again, I have to go back to 3:25 and wait four more minutes. This is incredibly frustrating. With my more expensive cameras from another brand, I can scrub the video easily to get to the exact minute and second that I want to see. The frustration is enough that I might be replacing these cameras soon with a different brand that gives me that basic functionality.

4.0 out of 5 stars For the price, it’s good.
So, I do security cameras for other folks as part of my job, but I needed an inexpensive, basic camera for inside my own home. This camera does well. Noise and motion detection is good (sometimes too good – it catches reflections real easy!). Yes, you can hear the motor when it turns, so, a little less quality build encasing the motor, but for the price – hey, that’s reasonable (so 4 stars). The tracker gets bored quickly and resets to home. There are multiple features on this camera, like the patrol mode and zone monitoring that seem like they might be GREAT features. Frankly, I’m just too lazy to go through all the learning curves to deal with that (and the added features are not overly “user friendly” – and if that’s the case for me, that means it’s not pleasant for the average user, so a bonus, but a waste unless you want to take the time to learn it all). My living room is not large enough to need the full 360deg, and its noise detection can tell if someone’s coming from off-screen. It does recognize people (which substituted the patrol mode for me). Great for night vision. Not obnoxious in size. Not intrusive. It’s app is pretty basic – just like every other app out there but I DO like NO subscription fees just to “use” it (there may be some to store to the cloud?). It may have ads, but I haven’t noticed. I did buy my own SD card, got the class 10, 256 GB high fidelity card, and ran this at 2k. Quality was GREAT. I tried 1080. Quality was still amazing. I went down to the 720… and quality was STILL great (but not for face recognition in low light). I’m not looking more than 25 – 30 feet away and the details are MORE than sufficient, giving me even longer record times before it overwrites. It doesn’t always alert me on the app when it sees motion, that is touch and go? Maybe a network issue. I did have a 1-time loss of wifi with router at the very beginning, but that remedied itself. (and sometimes, it is slow to connect – but that is all network dependent, not necessarily the camera). Long story short – if someone’s breaking into your home, you want to know immediately. You want faces. And, you want to be able to report it. This does that and well enough for the price (in fact, it just beeped at me thru my phone while sitting at work and typing this). Again, it’s in the $30 – $40 range… so it’s not going to be “high class”. But, to get to that range, you’re “usually” jumping into the $200-1200+ per camera category, so… for my tight budget, no. It has some mounting options, nothing fancy (like all others in this price range). It’s corded, but you can always find solutions for that (and it’s not a hidden cam, so cord doesn’t really matter, and no battery powered cam will give you good, constant operations without fast draining). Funny note – it picked up motion on our TV screen while binging Supernatural! As an IT person who does camera set-up security, if you’re on a budget, I recommend this. I was going to get a Hiseeu cam because of their quality build, but honestly, the Kasa has audio detection, better audio quality, near the same range of vertical motion, does not have to be mounted up-side down (can sit on its base), is smaller / less obvious, does well at night, does lack the “emergency lights” option (unless I’m mistaken, someone please correct me), and has a “patrol” mode (which, if you’ve ever used 360 degree cameras, you suddenly realize that it can’t see someone coming from a blind spot and becomes obnoxiously useless without a patrol mode and/or audio detection) – and altogether, even tho the Hiseeu motor is quiet and the build is stronger (and it can pair with an NVR whereas I have no idea if the Kasa can), that STILL makes Kasa the better option for me (on a budget).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great deal
I needed something that wasn’t expensive to monitor a feral cat and her kittens so that I wouldn’t have to constantly scare her to check on them. I really wasn’t expecting it to work so well for this price. Now that the mom is about to be spayed and released and the kittens rehomed, I don’t feel like I bought this expensive thing to use once. The pan and tilt has been convenient with the kittens running around now. I used a micro SD card in it for free 24/7 continuous recording. I would definitely be interested in switching to this brand for outdoor cameras if they have them with the continuous record option too. The app is also surprisingly modern compared to some of the bigger names.

5.0 out of 5 stars Observing a Feral Mama Cat From A Far
I received the camera in a timely manner. I needed to have as little contact with a pregnant feral mama cat that was in the guest bathroom. Once she had her kittens, I needed to make sure she and the four kittens were safe. This camera is amazing! I can see if the mama cat is moving around, even in the dark. I love the microphone option where I can talk to her even when I am at work, using the app on my phone. I would recommend this to anyone who is fostering cats/kittens, in particular, when you need to watch them even when you are away from home. The camera can be portable and not fixed to one point to make it even more accessible for your needs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Basic Camera with a lot of nice options!
I am writing this review for the Kasa smart indoor camera EC70, features may change from past to future models. I do have a separate security system for the outdoors, and I wanted something simple and portable to use indoors. I chose the Kasa camera because I already have the Kasa smart plugs. For about $20 dollars this is a camera with a lot of nice features. It is extremely easy to install and use. First, download the Kasa Smart App and create an account. Second, plug the camera into a power source, open the app add the camera and follow the directions. Once added, use the 3rd party tab to add to your Alexa account and google home account. If you already have added those accounts, then the camera will automatically be added and you can access it through the Alexa and google home app. The camera once added did require a firmware update and this took about 2 minutes. Some helpful tips I learned during my encounter with set up. The EC70 camera will accept a microSD card from 8 to 256GB used for local storage. Even though it tells you during set up to add, you will NOT be able to do so unless the camera is tilted up as high as it can go. So, you may have to finish set up, then start the camera and tilt it up before you can install it. For the Alexa app, the app will NOT turn the EC70 camera on or off. I am able to connect the camera to my Echo Show and FireTV only. The camera WILL send notifications to any Amazon device, and you are able to pick which devices to receive notifications. For google home, it is essentially the same, you need to have a Nest or Chromecast device in order to view the EC70 camera output. You probably will need to use the google help page for instructions on how to set it up. You can set the EC70 camera for different views of the area you wish to see, and can also place it on patrol mode to automatically move to each view. There are a wide range of positions available to meet your particular specifications and needs. The camera is mobile, unless you attach it to a wall or ceiling with the included bracket. The picture quality is great, and you do have options for the video quality settings depending on your wifi. I read other reviews and some of the negativity of the EC70 camera most likely is due to your wifi, not the actual equipment. I have used this camera to watch the front door when I am in the back, and also to watch the dogs. It is nice to receive the notification that they are at the door, so I can let them out to do their business. I am very happy with my purchase. I hope you find this review helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super helpful to check on pets
I got two cameras to use when I was dog sitting two dogs that would be home alone with my dog (I already knew they got along so not out of concern but out of curiosity on how they’d spend their time). The cameras and app was super easy to set up and was very user friendly. I popped onto the app multiple times while out and about and loved being able to move the cameras to point to different areas of the house. It was like a scavenger hunt each time to find the dogs. I haven’t noticed the sound the camera makes when it moves but the dogs would always be starring at the cameras when I’d move them so there must be a slight sound. I tested the cameras at night and could easily see with the night vision. I also tried using the speaking feature with my fiance and he said he could clearly hear me and I was able to hear him respond / we had a short conversation. Great for making sure he got home ok when I stayed out. There are more features I still plan to test out – like setting the zones for the camera to quickly click on them- which I’ll get to eventually. I’m looking forward to using these when we go on vacation to have peace of mind. Overall highly recommend – they are great for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great pet and security camera
I purchased this camera to monitor my 4 parrots while away from home and when I’m on another floor of my house. It was very easy to setup and connect to my WiFi. I downloaded the app and monitor my 4 birds. My oldest recently has had some health issues so this has been great. You can rotate the camera 360, take pictures, and talk to your pets, family member or a possible intruder. This camera has excellent picture quality in color with really good lighting. The camera is very small and comes with screws if you want to mount from a ceiling or elsewhere. I currently have this camera sitting on a piece of furniture until I determine the best place to mount. I feel so much better when I can monitor and I also have a camera downstairs on my Great Dane.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE this product! Great for keeping an eye on our new pup!
Oh my goodness, I was SO stressed having to go back back to work with the new rescue pup (10 months, 40 pounds) who has extreme anxiety. I honestly was scurrying to find a small camera to keep an eye on her for her safety that would arrive fast – this product arrived with a day so I was so thankful.

Set up for two phones had me stuck for a few minutes, but I figured it out. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THE PRICE FOR THE QAULITY!!! We get alerts with motion, can track her, can speak to her clearly.. SUCH A HUGE RELEIF.

I truly recommend this product, it even has a feature to save your records if you insert a memory card. It was so easy to set up and I am so thankful for it!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent camera/ NO SUBSCRIPTION NEEDED!
This will be our third go around with the kasa portable video camera. Third go around meaning this is the third camera we have purchased. We have one outside on the patio. We have one upstairs and we just added our third camera for downstairs. We have a Dutch Shepherd and we leave him at home under the careful eye of these cameras.

We enjoy these cameras because there’s no pressure for a monthly subscription. You have to add a micro SD card so the video can be saved but it’s not necessary to have it uploaded to a cloud or anything complicated. Otherwise the clarity is good, the motion activation works well, and most importantly it’s simple. My wife keeps the cameras on her phone so she can monitor whenever she wants especially when we’re out away from the home. I highly recommend these cameras. They are reasonably priced right now at around $25 and our first camera which we bought months ago is still running without any issues whatsoever. WHAT MORE COULD ONE ASK FOR?

I did not receive any compensation or free products for saying factual and realistic comments about these wonderful video cameras. Nice thing is we can unplug them and take them on vacation as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does not allow unlimited streaming
I was using this on the same network and after ten minutes received a notice that to continue streaming click continue.
I plan to replace about 20 cameras and refuse to click continue on each one.
There is a web page that states that if you are not on the same network, it will give you this notice.
I was on a Wi-Fi-only tablet with only the same network connected.
The power supply needs to be reworked, there is no way to have a longer connection without doing extension cords since it is a standard barrel charge port and not USB.
USB would make things easier, or at least offer a pigtail to convert it.
The Tapo app allows you to use both Tapo and Kasa whereas Kasa only allows Kasa brand.
I also wanted to share the cameras, but this would not work, as it is only offered with some cameras.
More than half of my cameras are outside, so the choices are limited, especially for Wi-Fi.
