I bought this for the down imaging function. For the money it works good not probably as good as a more expensive unit but it does the job. I found it works better if you tip back the transducer one notch from the level position, that gives you clearer images.

I live on a 20 acre lake that was dug for sand for interstate 10 overpasses. The lake is over 75 years old and loaded with many varieties of fish. I have always heard there is a sunken vehicle about 20 feet deep at the NW corner of the lake. Well I found it with this unit. It’s a tractor as seen in the picture. I’m very impressed. Sorry for the screen reflection from the sun.

For the price point I’m not sure how you could hope for any more. The imaging tech is awesome and it works great in my pond prowler. Downside pointed out by previous review about having to reset the menu every time is correct, but it’s just a couple button-pushes. If you want a simple but effective fishfinder for a car-topper, kayak, or lake/pond boat, it’s a win.

As i said, you can check the bottom and the depths but for marking fish it is inadequate, you can compare the demo with both the fish icon on and with it off and you wouldn’t be able distinguish why it is marking the fish (with the fish icon on) . The icon’s great for beginners but as someone with a bit of experience you want see the arcs, not an icon and the resolution is just not good enough to do that. Not sure why this unit has so many good reviews. It’s just okay in my book. Barely has any features, it could least include the battery voltage. I bought it based on reviews and it looking similar to the lowrance elite 4 that I once had. Maybe it’s good for the money but I would recommend saving up a bit more to get something more useful.

The first day I used this it worked great. On the second day it would only bounce between 0’ and 200-300’ even though I was in 10’ of water. There was no damage to the any part of the unit and I tried unplugging everything and plugging back in. Completely unreliable unit.
